Questions
Do I need an account to look at rentals?
No. Every listing is open to browse. You need an account to contact a listing company, save homes, or see an exact address that a company has shared with you.
Who do I deal with?
The company that listed the home. They handle viewings, applications and the lease. OKI HOMES lists homes; it isn't a real estate broker and isn't affiliated with the U.S. military.
How do I set up a viewing?
On a move-in-ready home, use Request a viewing. Your request goes to the listing company, and they get back to you.
What does “Coming soon” mean?
The home is still being prepared — for example, waiting on a base inspection or relisting — so it can't be shown yet. You can send a question, or join the waitlist if the company has one open.
How do I apply?
Applications are by invitation. After you've talked with the listing company, they can send you an application form. It shows up on the listing and in your account.
What will I pay up front?
Each listing shows the rent and, where the company has entered them, the deposit, key money, lock change and cleaning fees — all in yen. If a broker handles the home, a broker's commission is added. Ask the listing company for the total due at signing.
What does the base inspection status mean?
It's the inspection status the listing company has on record for the home: current, applied for, or none. Check with your base housing office about what your move requires.
Why can't I see the exact address?
Some companies show only the area until they share the address. Once you're signed in, you can request it from the listing.
Can companies come to me instead?
Yes. Save what you're looking for, and listing companies can send you homes that fit.
